Junior and Senior English
Eighth grade Literature, American History, and
Pre-algebra
After teaching at Mt. Calvary Christian Academy for the
past thirty years, I consider myself to be well
qualified. After graduating from Methodist College in
Fayetteville with a Bachelor of Arts in secondary
education, I began teaching at MCCA. This year I am
teaching junior and senior English classes as well as
eighth grade literature, American history, and
pre-algebra. My junior English class spends time
reviewing the basic principles of grammar and putting
that knowledge to work by writing various papers and one
well documented research paper, hi addition to writing,
they also read American literature selections including
such classics as The Scarlet Letter. The senior English
class continues the same education they were learning in
the eleventh grade by writing an extensive research
project. They also read selections in British literature
including Pilgrim's Progress and MacBeth. The eighth
graders that I teach use the Saxon math curriculum that
prepares them well for Algebra I. They spend time
studying American history from Columbus to present day
George W. Bush.
