1st Grade

I am Rachel Pridgen, first grade teacher. My husband & I came to Mt. Calvary in 2002 from Pensacola, Florida where I taught Kindergarten at Pensacola Christian Academy. This year's class is small with only eight students, but we are having a blast! First grade is a transition year and the students are learning personal responsibility along with academics. With accelerated reading and arithmetic programs, the children are pushed to new and higher academic goals which they are eager to achieve. We also enjoy fun songs and poems and games to emphasis that learning is fun! Whether we are reading, writing in cursive, learning to count money, or at recess, our main goal as a class is to always do our best for our Lord Jesus Christ.
